First, the mixture to be separated is placed inside the centrifuge's rotating drum, which is then closed and activated.

When rotating at high speed, the centrifuge causes the denser components to be pushed to the ends of the drum, while the less dense components remain in the center.

This is due to centrifugal force, which increases as the rotation speed increases. Once the separation has been completed, the components are removed from the drum, each in its own compartment.

The densest components are on the outside of the drum, while the least dense are in the center.

Depending on the application, the centrifuge can be configured to separate components into different density levels.
